How would I describe the Australian Outback? Maybe as an emptiness that is not empty but full of life. The prominent color is red. Red sand. Red rocks. Red dust.
I was on a 5 day tour with “Mulgas Adventures” – for everybody who’s interested in doing such a journey, it was just amazing. I guess it’s not too difficult doing the trip on your own with your own car, but I liked the guided tour a lot. You get to know so many new people and share the adventure with them. You learn about Aboriginal culture, sleep under the stars in a sleeping bag, sing songs at the bonfire and of course: Hike a lot and see Uluru (Ayers Rock), Kata Tjuta (the Olgas), Kings Canyon and the Devils Marbles on the way from Alice Springs to Darwin.
If you ever do a journey like this just make sure you have LOTS of water with you and protect yourself from the sun, you would never guess how cruel the heat is out here! But right now I guess you are sitting in a nice comfy seat, not too hot, not too cold, so just have a look at these photos and enjoy… 🙂
- Anzac Hill, Alice Springs.
- The great sunset view from Anzac Hill above Alice Springs.
- Outback Dunny = Toilet 🙂
- The walk around the base of Uluru takes about 2-3 hours. By the way, please don’t climb it, it’s a sacred place to the Aboriginal people!
- Kata Tjuta or “the Olgas” are similar to Uluru. The hike through the Valley of the Winds is amazing.
- Kings Canyon. Maybe even more interesting than Uluru and definitely the most scenic walk we did.
- Kings Canyon. Down in this valley there is the “Garden of Eden” with a beautiful waterhole.
- Bonfire in the Outback. Marshmallows and stuff. Good times.
- I have no idea how this car got there but it certainly has a story to tell.
- The Devils Marbles. How could nature form these perfectly round rocks?
Nice photographs! I especially love the first one where the sun illuminates only the upper part of the tower.
Thank you ^^
